I’m here. At last. Cold air and snow on the groupd. Food. The Texas Steakhouse was recommended so I called an Uber and was soon sitting at the bar in a very crowded restaurant, with huge pieces of beef sitting on most plates. A friendly mother/son twosome took some pics of me and I settled in. The advantage of sitting at the bar is there is no wait for a table. Anytime I can avoid a line, I am happy.
Looking around I saw a bison’s head mounted on the wall, longhorns mounted, but no evidence of guns, which made me happy. The staff was lugging around a saddle, clapping, and singing something. I don’t know what that was all about.
But my potato skins were great and bar neighbors friendly.
On the way home, the Uber driver gave me his prize winning recipe for hamburghers. He mentioned something about the Heinz 57 award. His secret ingredient for a really top burgher is ground up bacon added to the beef before cooking. He also has two other secret ingredients but I couldn’t hear him so they slipped by me. Maybe he will Uber me again and I’ll get those missing ingredient.
Ready for bed and ready to experience this part of America beginning tomorrow.
