MY PROFESSIONAL DEBUT

I went to a professional development day for Rotary. It promised to be so like many I have attended in the past. And I prepared carefully.

I inserted my gold earrings, dug out my gold chain, checked my black suit to make sure it was lint free, and ironed a white blouse.

My make-up was carefully applied and my hair was stylish but appropriately modest. All in all, I felt like I was going to be a good representative of Fort Lauderdale Rotary. And do some effective networking.

And off I go in an Uber to the venue. Once registered and wtih the obligatory name tag in place, I began working the room.

I approached a group of 5, worked in and made eye conact with the gentlemen directly across from me.

I reached out my hand to shake his, and announced, “Evelyn Ciocco, fromm FART Lauderdale Rotary.” To his credit he never blinked. Nor did I. We just kept on with the introductions.
