I’m embarrassed to admit that I haven’t bothered with the water in Fort Lauderdale. I haven’t explored the myriad of water ways and intercoastals.
So now’s the time. It is hot, sunny, and dry. So I bought an all day water taxis ticket, put on light, flowy clothes, sunscreen, and sunhat and boarded Captain Mary’s water taxi. The commentary was interesting but the dark blue ripples of water was magnetic to me.
I watched the water, the regularity of the small ripples, the colors, the symmetry, the softness, the liquidness of it and fell in love all over again. Young kids were sailing in lasers, taking lessons at the oldest yacht club in Fort Lauderdale.
We made a few stops for people to get on and off, and the loops of blue water still fascinated me. It was about lunch time and I wasn’t hungry but I needed the bathroom, so I got off a Bokampers, a sports bar. There I had a glass of Marborough
Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and watched Tiger struggle with his game. Crisp, clearn, sharp describe my favorite wine
Back on the boat with a new commentator, I found a seat and leaned over to watch the liquid beauty as it flowed away from the hull.
The water taxi was headed back to the starting point but I had a free pass for the day. The ripples of torquoise hypnotized me.
The new commentator was professional and practiced, but he was interested in sharing the names of wealthy home owners along the beachfront. I didn’t care. I just watched the sapphire waves, the tessesalated patterns, the mini waves, the ruffles of water below me and knew I had to make this part of my life again.
It was a wonderful day but also, it convinced me that I had to find an available boating experience. That’s my next objective.
I want many days on the water.
