First visit to dermatologist for a cancer skin check. At least first in Fort Lauderdale.
I show up early, filled out the digital forms, history, allergies, meds, etc etc etc, paid the receptionist and sat down. Immediately I was taken into the office, answered some questions, disrobed and put on the Universal Blue Gown – tied in the back, and settled down to wait. The door opened and the Dr and his assistant entered, cheerful and chatty. As we talked about the Swimming Hall of Fame he did the exam. No signs of any type of cancer, which is very good news, as expected. He and his entourage left and I dressed and exited to my left, as instructed, passed two other desks, a pharmacy rep, and a nurse. Near the exit a young man stepped in front of me and explained the process of receiving allergy tests and why it was important. His pitch was very practiced. I politely declined, and walked to another computer with secretary, who said Goodby, and exited.
I pulled out my phone to call an Uber and realized the whole entire process, including the digital forms, took less than 14 minutes.
I felt like I successfully completed a medical gauntlet in record time. Wonder if the efficient doctor is related to Jeff Bezos?
