The YES peope

This is for AJ,, my nephew, my almost-grandson, my relative. AJ, I have been told that you always say Yes to what’s being offered.

Good for you! I wish I could say you inherited tha gene from me, because I’ve always been a Yes person and it served me well.

Years ago, a little French lady I just met two minutes before said to me, “Why don’t you come to Paris for Christmas?” I said Yes in a nanosecond and we’ve been fast friends for life, traveling all over Paris, Nice, Norway and Miami together, sharing our grandchildren and our lives. Beautiful

Another time, when I was a teenage, a classmate asked if I wanted to go to church with her. I said Yes and it was my only experience in what is termed a ‘holy roller’ congregation. Interesting.

My Australia husband often said, “Do you want to…..?” And I said Yes before he finished the sentence. As a result I’ve travelled the Outback, experienced real life among opal miners, and a host of other adventures most people never imagine. . All because I said Yes.

My friend and I were in AAA exchanging Australian money when he picked up a brochure and said, “Do you want to go on a 12 day tour of Europe?” I said Yes, not knowing the price, the itinerary, or any other details. We had a terrific time.

Sometimes it backfires. In Memphis I was outside a red-neck bar, leaning against the wall, with country music blasting through the door, wondering how I was going to get back to my hotel. I had no car. Two women in their 40s came out and said, “Sister, do you need a ride?”

I said Yes, We piled into a car and the driver exited the parking lot, sped ACROSS the highway into a private yard., braking just before ramming the house. Laughter and excitement followed, but not from me. The girls were high and I was in trouble. It took a lot of fast talking but they finally dropped me off at the hotel . The ride took 45 min instead of 10. So Yes backfired on me that time.

But AJ, keep saying Yes because you’ll be a participate in life, not a spectator. And it’s always more fun to be in the middle of it all.

Cheers

You Yes Aunt.
